Ecuador - Maria Elisabetta Farm

Start a Campaign

Why a farm?

Though Ecuador is a fertile land very rich in natural resources, due to political instability and social injustices, poverty continues to devastate the lives of many Ecuadorians. In Missionary Groups of the Home of the Mother, we have always understood that sending thousands of food packages is not a long-term solution for the poor of Ecuador nor for the country in general. For this reason, we decided to obtain a farm to foster micro-businesses and provide food for our children’s soup kitchens and sponsored families. At the same time, the farm provides job opportunities for unemployed Ecuadorian families. Thanks to generous donations for this very purpose, we were able to purchase Maria Elisabetta Farm in the outskirts of Chone, Ecuador.

Main Objective:

Maria Elisabetta Farm’s main objective is that of charity. We provide necessary food items to the children’s soup kitchens in Chone, Ecuador. The food production is also destined for the monthly parcels or food baskets which are given to the families sponsored by our benefactors. Once these two needs are met, the rest of the production is destined for sale. The capital obtained from these sales is used to pay the farm workers’ salaries. In this way, we help feed the neediest part of the population without damaging the local economy, while at the same time creating job opportunities for local families.

Your donation will help cover the expenses to continue the agricultural activities of Maria Elisabetta Farm which include the cultivation of rice, corn, tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, zucchini, beans, bananas and green bananas, cocoa, coffee, yucca, peanuts, passion fruit, papaya, grapefruit, boya, pechiche, red cedar, guachapelí, oranges, mangoes, lemons, tangerines, coconuts, etc.
